Investments Making an Eternal Difference...
Creating authentic community among a diverse population is central to the mission of New Hope Free Methodist Church, located in Rochester, New York. Beginning as a church plant in 1990, New Hope first rented space at the Historic German House. In 2002, they purchased a building which had once housed the Rochester First Free Methodist Church. The congregation believed God wanted them to have a modest structure as a base of operations, knowing that most of their ministry takes place in the world outside the walls of a church building. With renovation, the building had the potential to fulfill the criteria the church had been searching for—they are centrally located in the city, on a highly visible street, large enough for the congregation to use and grow into, and abundant parking is available—always a challenge in an urban setting.
According to Pastor Linda Adams, “New Hope hosted a newer congregation during its beginning stages, and now we're in the first stages of sponsoring a new Free Methodist church planting project here as well. The leaders of our congregation feel a great responsibility as stewards of this space—that it be used for the glory of God and the growth and expression of the Kingdom of God. We feel we have only begun to maximize the potential of this urban lighthouse.”
Because of the valuable support of investors in the Free Methodist Loan Fund, New Hope Free Methodist Church was able to purchase and renovate property. The new church building is serving the congregation and its mission as it brings people together from across the country to worship.
